Why do you never hear the word "humongous" anymore?

Thanks for dedicating an entire post to me and my pet word, "humongous." For the answer to that question, I shall have to check with my mother-in-law who seems to be the world's expert on this subject (as well as many others).
My kids love these computer games that were by Humongous Entertainment. I don't think H.E. exists anymore either. Must have been bad ju-ju using the word 'humongous'. (actually I think it was bought out by Atari or somebody)

I think he also bought the rights to the domain name. I've just been in a humongous funk about this.
I tend to never use words I have never heard of.
