Why are they called "dust bunnies"? The dust part I get but . . . bunnies?

Because they are fluffy and multiply so quickly!

I was about to say "because they are fluffy and multiply so quickly," but now I see that sylvana beat me to it. Or maybe she stole my comment. Does that ever happen?

Good question. Mine have grown much larger than the average bunny. However, they make for very undemanding pets and I’ve become so attached to them that I’ve given them names.

There used to be a kids show, from Canada maybe, that had Big Comfy Couch and dust bunnies as character. Creepy!

Because they're made of hare?
