This one is courtesy of Astrid who sent me a whole list of things to wonder about:

Why is there a light in the fridge but not the freezer?

Because it's too cold?

because freezers are cold dark places...

There seems to be a consensus forming re. the "cold" nature of freezers. I think I could go alone with "dark" as well, though I need to give that one more thought.

Actually, there is a light in my freezer.

Maybe I was right the first time when I just said "cold."

My freezer comes with a light.

Yes, I was aware that some freezers come with lights. But most don't and I have to wonder why especially when I am rooting around in my (dark) freezer looking for something.

frozen food isn't afraid of the dark.

*blush* *blush* Thanks for the tribute, lady. And yes, if only I knew the answer. I have not the faintest idea. Maybe we'd rather not see what is in the freezer? Frozen chicken! Ugh!
