Why do people rush out to buy snow shovels before every snowstorm? What happened to the snow shovels they purchased prior to previous snowstorms?

Are you saying what I think you're saying--that you can use your shovels more than once. How come they never told me that at the store?

I've been using the same shovel for 20 years. Maybe I'm the one who's doing it wrong?

Maybe we're both right. Maybe in your own way you're saving the planet while I, in my own way, am boosting the economy with my conspicuous consumption.

Maybe they are new hi-tech models "shovel easier, faster".. Is there such a thing as out of date snow shovels? Are shovels like shoes and purses? Keeping up with the fashion trend?

My son manages to break the snow shovels and rakes over the summer, that's why I do it. Amazingly, this summer he managed to leave us one in one piece! Whoohoo!

Although I did see a neat little snow auger on the news the other day that seemed to do a nice job...
